2024 Grand Slam of Darts Tips
Tip 1 – Luke Humphries to win the Grand Slam of Darts @ 11/4
Defending champion and with three majors to his name this year already, Humphries enters yet another competition as favourite with BetMGM.
Three additional final appearances have complimented the triumphs and, while he only made the last eight of the European Championship, we’re backing him to live up to his favourite tag here and defend his title.
The world number one is part of Group A and will face James Wade, Mickey Hansell and Rowby-John Rodriguez. He should have no issues topping that group and the start of the knockout stage will pose minimal issues too, if all goes to form.
His surprise defeat to Jermaine Wattimena in the European Championship shows he can be got at, but recent slip-ups have been rare from Cool Hand. Averaging 98.73 this year, Humphries dropped just four legs in the group stage of last year’s Grand Slam of Darts. If he’s on song, he can go all the way once more.
Tip 2 – Dimitri van den Bergh to win the Grand Slam of Darts E/W @ 40/1
Enjoying a productive 2024, Dimitri van den Bergh will be looking to improve on his poor record in the Grand Slam of Darts this year and we are backing him to do so with a strong run.
The 2024 UK Open champion does have a tricky group to navigate, including BetMGM Premier League champion Luke Littler, but the seventh seed should have more than enough to progress to the knockout stages ahead of Keane Barry and Lourence Ilagan.
Should he progress, he would face either the winner or the runner-up from Group E and Van den Bergh has shown he can do it this year in the knockout format, adding semi-final appearances in the World Grand Prix, the Masters and the World Cup of Darts to his UK Open win.
While Littler has got the better of him in both their previous meetings and ‘the Dreamaker’ isn’t settling the world alight with averages this year (92.57), he can hold his nerve on the big stage.
His 40/1 odds suggest it may be a long shot but Van den Bergh is enjoying his best majors year to date and is impossible to ignore at that price.
33/1 2024 Grand Slam of Darts Group Winner Acca
We’ve put together an acca for the group stage of the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts, with our choices for four of the group winners coming in a tasty 33/1.
Here’s a breakdown of our choices:
Leg 1: Rob Cross to win Group C @ Evens
The 2018 PDC world champion Rob Cross hasn’t enjoyed his best year of form and has struggled to show the performances he is capable of in the majors.
Consistent last-eight appearances have not turned into finals and titles this year, and a disappointing BetMGM Premier League display saw him fail to make it to Play-offs Night.
In Group C, though, he faces a man who has endured a similarly tough year in Peter Wright. Snakebite has also struggled with form and won just two matches in the entire BetMGM Premier League campaign.
A European Tour win in Germany provided some joy for the two-time world champion Scotsman – and he has won his last two matches against Cross.
It is worth nothing that those wins followed three consecutive defeats, including a whitewash, and as a result Voltage is well placed to get the better of Wright as well as Martin Lukeman and Leonard Gates to top the group.
Leg 2: Mike De Decker win Group E @ 13/8
Group E is one of the most interesting and perhaps the tightest of groups to call.
In it, double major champion Michael Smith is drawn alongside World Grand Prix winner Mike De Decker, European Championship runner-up Jermaine Wattimena and Mensur Suljovic.
Smith has not had the best 2024 but the world number two did win the World Cup of Darts alongside Luke Humphries, as well as making the final in the World Series of Darts Finals.
It is not the easiest draw for Smith, though, and some poor showings in PDC premier events of late will give hope to the rest of the group.
With that thinking, in-form Mike de Decker can pip him to the top of Group E having won the last four against Smith fairly comprehensively.

Leg 3: Gary Anderson to win Group G @ 5/4
Two big names lead the way in Group G, with multiple major winner Michael van Gerwen drawn alongside two-time world champion Gary Anderson.
Neither has won a major in 2024 with Van Gerwen, in particular, struggling for form and putting in a series of below-par performances in premier events. A runner-up place at the World Matchplay and the Masters is as good as it gets for MVG this season and, at various points, he has not looked like the player who dominated the sport for so long.
Anderson, for his part, has not won a major since 2019 but did lift the European Darts Grand Prix this year and has shown remarkable consistency on the floor events despite his stripped back schedule.
It is no secret that, when on his game, the Flying Scotsman is still one of the best players in the sport – something he underlined with a 10-4 demolition of MVG in last month's European Championship.
He can get the better of the Dutchman again here and he will also have too much for their Group G rivals Ryan Joyce and Noa-Lynn van Leuven.
Leg 4: Stephen Bunting to win Group H @ 15/8
Our final choice for the acca sees us head to Group H and reigning Masters Champion Stephen Bunting up against Wessel Nijman, Josh Rock and Gian van Veen.
After winning his first major this year Bunting has disappointed in other premier events, making just one other quarter-final. Despite that, his head-to-head record against both Rock and Van Veen – two in a row vs Rock and three against Van Veen – heavily favours the argument that he will reach the summit of Group H.
Wessel Nijman got the better of Bunting to win his first Players Championship title this year and in fact has not lost to the Liverpudlian across their two meetings. That is bound to change here, though, if Bunting can show anything like the form that brought him the Masters title.
