BetMGM Premier League Darts Tips: 14/1 Night 1 Acca

It’s showtime in Belfast as the 2025 BetMGM Premier League Darts season gets underway at the SSE Arena.

World champion Luke Littler is out to defend his Premier League crown against seven of the world’s best players, who will battle it out over 17 weeks for a spot at the Play-Offs Night at London’s O2 in May.

Before we take a look at the opening night’s action, let’s remind ourselves of the format ahead of the 2025 BetMGM Premier League campaign.

BetMGM Premier League Darts Format

The BetMGM Premier League contains a nightly eight-person knockout bracket, with each of the seven matches played in a first-to-six-legs format.

In the initial seven weeks, players are assured of facing one another once in the quarter-finals while a similar arrangement occurs on nights nine through 15.

The match-ups in weeks eight and 16 are determined based on the league standings at those respective points. Players earn two points for reaching the semi-finals, three points for finishing runner-up and five points for winning the final.

After the league phase, the top four players in the standings compete in two knockout semi-finals. The player in first place faces the player in fourth place and the player in second takes on the player in third.

Getting the 2025 competition underway is Chris Dobey, who returns to the Premier League for the first time since 2023, against last year’s seventh-place finisher Gerwyn Price.

The two met in a pulsating clash at this year’s World Championship with Dobey coming out on top with a 5-3 win, though that is his only win over the Welshman since 2019.

The second quarter-final sees Stephen Bunting face Rob Cross with both players already having won a PDC World Series event this year — Bunting the Bahrain Masters and Cross the Dutch Masters.

Quarter-final number three is the standout match of Night 1: a repeat of the 2025 World Championship final between reigning Premier League champion Littler and seven-time winner Michael van Gerwen. This could be a blockbuster.

Finally we have Nathan Aspinall up against world number one Luke Humphries, who made the final of the Premier League last year and picked up another major title just a week ago in the revamped World Masters.

Night 1 quarter-finals in full:

  • Chris Dobey vs Gerwyn Price;
  • Stephen Bunting vs Rob Cross;
  • Luke Littler vs Michael van Gerwen;
  • Nathan Aspinall vs Luke Humphries

14/1 BetMGM Premier League Darts Night 1 Acca

The opening night of the 2025 BetMGM Premier League Darts has thrown together some interesting battles as the competition gets underway for its 21st year.

Each week, we will put together an acca for the four quarter-finals – this week it comes in at a tasty 14/1.

Leg 1 – Gerwyn Price to beat Chris Dobey @ 13/20

It was a disappointing campaign last time around for Price, in what was an underwhelming year generally for the Welshman.

He failed to perform in the majors and didn’t win a night of the Premier League, finishing second from bottom. The 2023 runner-up will be looking to right many wrongs this year and his quarter-final showing at the World Championship showed glimpses of what ‘the Ice Man’ is still capable of.

He starts his campaign here against Dobey, the man who ended his run at Ally Pally. The Newcastle thrower has only competed in the Premier League as a full member once before, two years ago, and got off to a storming start by winning the opening night at this very venue.

That would very much be as good as it got for ‘Hollywood’ – he didn’t win another night and finished seventh.

Price beat Dobey in every meeting during that Premier League campaign and, in fact, that defeat against him in the World Championship was his first against Dobey for over five years.

Early exits in both the Bahrain and Dutch Darts Masters mean Dobey has done little to build on his impressive last four worlds showing, so we’re backing Price to get revenge here and keep up his perfect Premier League record against his rival.

A price of 13/20 for him to win the match looks good value for a player who has to show more in the Premier League – and will.

Leg 2 – Rob Cross to average over 95.5 vs Stephen Bunting @ 5/6

Bunting and Cross already have PDC World Series titles to their names in 2025 and have even faced off in a final, with 2018 world champion Cross coming away with the spoils in the Dutch Masters finale.

Cross’s win in that final saw him average an impressive 101.87 – and he bettered that in the World Masters when averaging over 103 despite losing the game to William O’Connor.

Those averages, though, were not too much of an exception; having averaged 96.14 for the calendar year of 2024, he has upped that to over 97 for the early stages of 2025 as he approaches BetMGM Premier League Darts Night 1.

Bunting hasn’t tasted victory against Voltage since 2022 but the two have thrown up engaging meetings in recent times – none more so than the 16-13 win for Cross in the 2023 Grand Slam semi-finals.

The Bullet is returning to the Premier League line-up for the first time in almost a decade off the back of a 2024 Masters win and a tremendous end to the year. Cross, meanwhile, has surrounded his Dutch Masters win with first-round exits in the World Masters and the Bahrain Masters and as such enters the match as the underdog in Belfast.

However, the 2018 world champion is 5/6 to average over 95.5 in the match. Good value in a game that is very close to call.

Leg 3 – Michael van Gerwen to hit most 180s vs Luke Littler @ 3/1

Littler and Van Gerwen meet once more in undoubtedly the standout quarter-final of the opening night.

Their back-and-forth battle over the last 12 months continues with Littler getting the better of the seven-time Premier League champion in the last four meetings, including the epic 7-3 win in the World Championships final.

Though ‘the Nuke’ has enjoyed the better of things of late, last year’s Premier League was a little more even. They faced each other seven times in the tournament with MVG edging it with four wins including a 6-1 thumping on Night 15.

We’re heading to the 180s markets for our acca choice in this one, though not to the man who hit a staggering 836 maximums in 2024.

It may seem a brave shout to bet against Littler when it comes to hitting 180s but his opponent here is no stranger to the treble 20. Of their seven Premier League clashes last year, Mighty Mike hit more 180s on three occasions with two of the others ending in ties.

Even in his comprehensive World Championship final defeat Van Gerwen hit more maximums despite hitting just over half the amount of Littler in the calendar year.

Littler won the night in Belfast last year, his first-ever nightly win, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him do so again – but 3/1 for MVG to win the 180s count looks long and makes it on to our acca as a result.

Leg 4 – Luke Humphries to beat Nathan Aspinall @ 3/10

Newly-crowned World Masters champion Humphries kicks off his 2025 BetMGM Premier League Darts campaign against Aspinall in the final last-eight tie.

‘Cool Hand’ was supreme in Milton Keynes last week to clinch the Masters title and makes his second full appearance in the Premier League hoping to go one step further than last year’s runner-up position.

A surprise World Championship exit in the fourth round is a rare blot these days for Humphries, while Aspinall needs to put 2024 behind him as he hopes to stay injury-free and show the Premier League crowds what he is capable of once more.

‘The Asp’ won two nights during the 2024 BetMGM Premier League Darts season but missed out on Play-offs Night, and struggled for much of the year with injury.

He had some joy against Humphries last year but the world number one has won the last four meetings and averaged over 106 in his European Championship victory over Aspinall back in October.

Humphries is beatable, as Aspinall has shown previously, but his Masters performance was impressive and we can’t look past him making a winning start here at 3/10 to complete the acca, which is recapped below.

  • Gerwyn Price to beat Chris Dobey
  • Rob Cross to average over 95.5 vs Stephen Bunting
  • Michael van Gerwen to hit most 180s vs Luke Littler
  • Luke Humphries to beat Nathan Aspinall

Night 1 Odds & BetMGM Specials

Defending champion Littler unsurprisingly heads to Belfast as favourite. He won at this venue last year and is 9/4 to do so again, with world number one Humphries available at 11/4.

Bunting is 7/1 to continue his good start to the year, the same price as Van Gerwen, while Price is 8/1, Dobey 10/1, Cross 12/1 and outsider Aspinall 25/1.

No competition has featured more nine-darters than the BetMGM Premier League – so it was something of a surprise to see the first perfect leg in last year’s tournament come on Night 10, when Price fired in the nine in Manchester.

If you fancy someone to get off to the perfect start, it’s 7/1 for a nine-darter to be hit at any point across the evening.

Markets such as total evening 180s, over/under legs, King of the Oche and specific doubles to be hit are all available throughout this year’s BetMGM Premier League, with a whole host of markets on offer in-play.

Be sure to keep an eye on the BetMGM Premier League Darts Hub during Night 1.

BetMGM Premier League Darts history to repeat?

Belfast hosts the opening night for the second time in three years and the returning Dobey will certainly be hoping for a repeat of the 2023 opening night.

In a debut to remember, Hollywood beat Van Gerwen in the final to win the night – he’s 10/1 to repeat the feat and win again this time.

Price memorably hit two nine-darters at this very venue back in 2022 on his way to winning the night and hit he first perfect leg of the competition last year – he is a whopping 50/1 to hit one in his quarter-final here. Can he get the BetMGM Premier League underway in style?

Van Gerwen, meanwhile, hit the highest finish in Belfast in 2024 with a 150 out. The Dutchman is an interesting 7/1 to take home highest checkout honours again, while Littler is unsurprisingly 11/8 favourite to hit the most 180s across the night.

The 2025 BetMGM Premier League promises to be an exciting battle between some of the best players in the world. Current and former world champions, multiple major winners and new challengers will battle it out as the competition gets underway.

All roads lead to Play-offs Night at London’s O2 in May. It’s showtime!
