FA Cup Fifth Round Betting Tips

The 16 teams remaining in the FA Cup will now start thinking their name could be on the trophy this year as the fifth-round ties take place over four days this weekend.

Five Championship clubs remain in the fight alongside 11 Premier League teams and at least one of the second-tier clubs will make the quarter-finals as Preston take on rivals Burnley on Saturday.

Aston Villa and Cardiff get the action started on Friday night while holders Manchester United host Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday, with Nottingham Forest vs Ipswich providing the finale on Monday.

Manchester City are the cup favourites after Liverpool went out to Plymouth in the fourth round but now Pep Guardiola's team take on Argyle themselves.

We've picked out our favourite four bets for the last-16 matches, which can be combined in an accumulator that pays out at 24/1 if successful.

Tip 1 – Aston Villa to Win and Both Teams To Score @ 9/5

Aston Villa vs Cardiff: Friday 20:00

Aston Villa suffered their worst result for some time when losing 4-1 at Crystal Palace on Tuesday but they should be confident of bouncing back when they take on Championship side Cardiff in the opening fifth-round tie.

Most of Villa's disappointments this season have come in away games and they have not lost at home in their last 14 league and cup fixtures.

The Villans have beaten Premier League pair West Ham and Tottenham in this competition and while Cardiff won for the first time in five league matches when beating Hull 1-0 on Tuesday, the Bluebirds' priority remains avoiding relegation to League One.

Villa visit Club Brugge in the Champions League on Tuesday, so they may not be at full strength, while both teams have scored in seven of their last eight games and Villa have not kept a clean sheet in their previous 10 matches.

Both teams have scored in six of Cardiff's last eight fixtures, so you could back the home side to win a match in which both sides score.

Tip 2 – Draw @ 41/20

Preston vs Burnley: Saturday 12:15

The two Lancashire derbies between Preston and Burnley in the Championship this season have failed to produce a goal and the teams look set to play out another close contest in their cup clash on Saturday. Burnley's incredible defensive run goes on and they have not conceded a goal in nine matches since Reading's Lewis Wing scored in the 77th minute of their third-round tie.

The Clarets knocked out Premier League strugglers Southampton 1-0 in the fourth round, but they can expect North End to put up a strong fight just two weeks after their goalless game at Deepdale produced only three shots on target.

Preston have not lost at home since November and have drawn more home matches than any other Championship side. It would not be surprising if this contest is still unsettled after the first 90 minutes.

Tip 3 – Bournemouth to win @ 8/11

Bournemouth vs Wolves: Saturday 15:00

Wolves won 1-0 at Bournemouth in the Premier League last Saturday, but the Cherries have a chance to get some swift revenge and advance in the FA Cup.

The home side played the majority of that match with 10 men after defender Illia Zabarnyi was sent off but stayed competitive.

Bournemouth have looked good so far in this competition, thanks to wins over West Brom and Everton, and they won 4-2 on their league visit to Wolves in November.

Tip 4 – Brighton or Draw Double Chance @ 8/11

Newcastle vs Brighton: Sunday 13:45

Newcastle are blowing hot and cold at the moment with four wins and four losses in their last eight matches and they could be worth opposing when they host a talented Brighton team.

The Seagulls won 1-0 when they visited St James' Park in November and they are in fine form with only two defeats in their last 13 matches and seven wins in their last nine outings.

While Newcastle have been taking on some top teams and won their last two home games against Nottingham Forest and Arsenal (EFL Cup), they lost at home to Fulham and Bournemouth before that and could be troubled by Brighton, too.
