Premier League: Gameweek 19 Tips - Cunha Can Pile the Pressure on Spurs
As we head towards the end of the year, the final Premier League matches of 2024 take place across Sunday and Monday.
There are nine games to look forward to over the two days, with crucial fixtures at both ends of the table, while Arsenal travel to Brentford on New Year’s Day for the final contests in this round of games.
We have come up with a suggested festive four-time accumulator which, if successful, would return at 31/1.
Tip 1: Morgan Gibbs-White – Over 0.5 Shots on Target @ Evens
Two in-form teams meet at Goodison Park on Sunday (3pm), as Everton and Nottingham Forest look to maintain their unbeaten runs.
It’s four games without defeat – one win and three draws – for Sean Dyche’s Toffees, while Forest head to Merseyside having won four on the bounce.
There are 17 points separating the two sides but you have to go back to 1999 for the last time Forest won at Goodison.
One man who has been a key figure in Forest’s outstanding season to date is Morgan Gibbs-White, who has featured in 14 of their 18 Premier League fixtures.
The former Wolves man has scored twice and bagged three assists, with opportunities coming more frequently in a free role behind Chris Wood.
Gibbs-White is averaging 1.59 shots per game and has taken 18 so far this term, with the 24-year-old denied a goal by Fraser Forster in the Boxing Day win over Tottenham.
Tip 2: Matheus Cunha to score at anytime @ 11/5
Back-to-back league defeats to Liverpool and Nottingham Forest have seen Tottenham slip into the bottom half of the table.
They head back to home soil (Sunday, 3pm) having failed to win any of their last four league games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (three defeats and one draw).
Wolves have won back-to-back matches since new manager Vitor Pereira took charge, with those six points moving them outside the bottom three.
Matheus Cunha has scored in both victories over Leicester and Manchester United and it’s led to more speculation that he could be on the move in the January transfer window.
The Brazilian has 10 goals to his name this season and will be a constant threat to the injury-hit Tottenham backline.
Tip 3: Crystal Palace vs Southampton – Under 2.5 Goals @ 6/5
Two teams in the bottom half meet at Selhurst Park at 3pm on Sunday, as Crystal Palace and Southampton go head-to-head.
The Eagles have lost just one of their last seven in the league, conceding 26 goals in 18 matches – an average of 1.44 per game.
There has been a clear change in style from bottom club Southampton, since Russell Martin was sacked in mid-December.
Following a 0-0 draw at Fulham, Saints conceded just one second-half Jarrod Bowen goal in their defeat to West Ham.
They look likely to try and make life difficult for Palace, with two of their last three meetings coming in under 2.5 goals.
Tip 4: Ipswich vs Chelsea – Over 3.5 Goals @ 11/10
A late home defeat to Fulham on Boxing Day was a big setback to Chelsea’s title hopes, as they slipped seven points behind leaders Liverpool.
Enzo Maresca will demand a quick response from his men when they travel to Ipswich on Monday evening (7:45).
The home side go into this clash still looking for a first home success, with just four points from nine games at Portman Road.
Chelsea are unbeaten in their last five away matches, with three wins and two draws, scoring 12 goals in the process of that run.
Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich have leaked 32 goals so far this season, with 16 of those conceded at Portman Road and it looks like being another tricky home test for the Tractor Boys.
