Wolves: 2024/25 Premier League Fixtures
Wolves overcame a less-than-ideal start to 2023/34 to embark on a five-game unbeaten run as Gary O’Neil settled into life at Molineux magnificently.
Flashes of impressive form throughout the campaign showcased what they are capable of, with some strong results along the way including beating both Tottenham and Chelsea home and away.
This season will provide an opportunity to improve on their 14th-place finish last term, as the Old Gold look to emulate their consecutive seventh-place finishes of a few years ago and eye a return to European competition.
A tough start awaits Wolves, however, with five of last season's top seven in their first half-dozen games of the season.
If the Molineux side can survive the opening exchanges of the campaign then a kinder run of games awaits them in the lead-up to Christmas, representing an opportunity to look upwards in the table.
Standout Wolves Fixtures
Wolves begin their campaign with a tough trip to last season’s runners-up Arsenal. Mikel Arteta’s men suffered just two defeats on home soil last season so the Molineux faithful may find themselves travelling to North London more in hope than expectation of a strong start to the season.
Wolves end the season at home, however, with a winnable game against Brentford to see out the 2024/25 campaign in front of their own fans.
The packed festive period sees a home clash with Manchester United on Boxing Day, a fixture which last season produced a seven-goal thriller with Wolves just coming out on the wrong side of the 4-3 scoreline.
Either side of that one a match with Leicester City lies in wait prior to Christmas while Tottenham provide the opposition at Molineux in the final fixture of 2024.
Wolves will be hoping to improve on their record of eight home wins last season, with some stand-out Molineux matches including hosting defending champions Manchester City (19th October), the West Midlands Derby against Aston Villa (1st February) and newly-promoted Ipswich Town (14th December).
Wolves will also look to pick up points away from home if they want to enter the conversation for European football qualification. The derby against Aston Villa at Villa Park is just the third away game of the season and provides a stern test against a side participating in this season's Champions League.
Back-to-back away games see O’Neil take his side to Everton and West Ham in the space of a week, in a tough start to December, while an even more tricky week in January contains trips to Newcastle and Chelsea. The final away day of the season takes place against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, which follows two journeys to Manchester to face United and City respectively.
First Six Games
Wolves have a tough start to the 2024/25 season with Arsenal first up at the Emirates.
Their first home game of the campaign sees Chelsea visit Molineux, with Wolves having won their last three meetings with the Blues including an eye-catching 4-2 win at Stamford Bridge last season. Indeed, Chelsea have just one victory in this fixture in the last seven and O’Neil will be eyeing up a home win at the first time of asking.
Nottingham Forest and Newcastle are next up – two games which represent tricky, but winnable, fixtures. Two draws against Forest were the outcome in this meeting last season while, against Newcastle, a 2-2 draw at home was followed by a 3-1 defeat at St James’ Park.
The first six games are rounded off by two daunting fixtures in Aston Villa and Liverpool. Villa are flying high at the moment and a fine season last time around secured Champions League qualification.
Unai Emery’s men have won just one of their last seven against Wolves – a 2-0 win at Villa Park back in March – while Liverpool represent a tough challenge despite Jurgen Klopp’s departure.
