Genesis Championship Tips: Hojgaard the one to catch

Playing privileges for the 2025 season and a place in the DP World Tour play-offs are up for grabs this week when the action heads to Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea for the Genesis Championship.

The Genesis Championship has been played on the Korean Tour since 2017, but they have now joined forces with the DP World Tour, with this event becoming co-sanctioned and replacing the Korea Championship on the European circuit.

South Korean pair Tom Kim and Byeong-Hun An are the top two in the betting, priced at 7/1 and 8/1 respectively, but there is plenty of quality in this field and a 2023 Ryder Cup player is the headline selection.

Tip 1 - Nicolai Hojgaard to win and each-way @ 18/1

Danish star Nicolai Hojgaard had a 2023 to remember, as he was part of Europe's winning Ryder Cup team at Marco Simone Golf Club before then landing the DP World Tour Championship.

The 23-year-old hasn't been at his best this year, failing to return to the winner's circle since November and he is subsequently 78th in the Race to Dubai standings and, as things stand, set to miss out on the play-offs.

But there have been signs of revival from Hojgaard in recent weeks, with a tied-18th finish at the Open de France followed by a top-20 result at the Andalucia Masters and he can put in a bold showing in Incheon.

Accuracy is the requisite for success at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea and Hojgaard is 12th in strokes gained approach and ninth in greens in regulation, evidence of how strong his iron play has been.

If he can exact any improvement with the putter, there looks to be every chance of him lifting the trophy.

Tip 2 - Francesco Laporta to win and each-way @ 40/1

Italian Francesco Laporta is yet to win on the DP World Tour, but he has been getting closer to breaking that duck, having recently finished T6 at the Open de France.

The 34-year-old was T20th in Spain last week and, if he can continue his fine approach play, which has him 19th in GIR and 23rd in strokes gained approach, he could be in the running for glory.

Tip 3 - Sanghyun Park to win and each-way @ 100/1

There are plenty of home hopefuls in the field and one of those is Sanghyun Park, who won the 2023 Genesis Championship after coming through an intense three-man play-off.

At 41 years of age Park is an experienced head and he will relish the opportunity to return to this course, as he has a further two top-fives and a top-10 to go with that victory.

He was third in last year's Korea Championship in what was a strong field and Park, on offer at 100/1, looks like a solid each-way play here.
