Doncaster Lincoln Meeting Tips

The Flat is back on Saturday afternoon with the traditional curtain raiser, the Lincoln Handicap.

It’s the feature race on an eight-race card that also features the Brocklesby and the Spring Mile.

We have selections and analysis for all eight races on the card including a couple of value picks at double figure prices.

1.15 Doncaster - 5f William Hill Top Price Guarantee EBF Brocklesby Stakes (Class 2) (2yo)

Dylan Cunha won the Brocklesby last year and has claims of doing so again with Kamakameleon.

This £30,000 purchase is a well-bred son of Kameko whose dam was a speedy two-year-old that was Group-placed over 7f and he might be worth chancing.

Selection: Kamakameleon

1.50 Doncaster - 1m (Str) William Hill Bet £10 Get £10 Spring Mile Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+)

Richard Fahey has a good record in this contest and one that may be worth taking a chance on is Our Havana who arrives on the back of a career best effort.

He’s won two of his last three starts at Southwell over seven furlongs and gives the impression that there could be more to come at this new distance.

Selection: Our Havana

2.25 Doncaster - 6f William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Cammidge Trophy Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (3yo+)

A few of these need further or may need their first run of the season but neither of those can be said for Marshman who was narrowly denied when caught late in this race last year.

He’s been right back to form since wind surgery on the all-weather this winter and his race fitness will be a key asset in this sprint contest.

Selection: Marshman

3.00 Doncaster - 1m (Str) William Hill Doncaster Mile Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (4yo+)

Point Lynas has won first time out in both of his last two campaigns and has the benefit of a run in Doha this time around when running a creditable second.

He signed off last season with a Listed success and if he’s back at that sort of level, he could be hard to beat.

Selection: Point Lynas

3.35 Doncaster - 1m (Str) William Hill Lincoln (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) (4yo+)

Doncaster’s feature race is as competitive as any other recent renewal but Two Tempting appears to have been overlooked a little.

Johnny Portman’s six-year-old won on last season’s reappearance and has the benefit of a tune up run at Wolverhampton this time around. He’s off a career high mark but he may not have finished progressing just yet.

Selection: Two Tempting

4.10 Doncaster - 1m2f William Hill More Top Prices Maiden Stakes (Class 5) (3yo)

Bedouin Prince will be a tough nut to crack in the maiden. He was only beaten a nose on debut at Kempton and sets a solid standard on form already. With improvement likely, he will be hard to beat.

Selection: Bedouin Prince

4.45 Doncaster - 1m2f William Hill NRMB On The Grand National Apprentice Handicap) (Div I) (Class 5) (4yo+ 0-70)

Division one of the apprentice handicap can go the way of Quick Away. He’s a potential pace angle in this division and gets the services of talented apprentice Jack Nicholls in the saddle who is still able to claim 5lb. He may be capable of gaining back-to-back wins after his success at Wolverhampton last time out.

Selection: Quick Away

5.20 Doncaster - 1m2f William Hill NRMB On The Grand National Apprentice Handicap (Div II) (Class 5) (4yo+ 0-70)

The second division looks more competitive but Rainwater might be worth chancing. Richard Fahey does well with his runners at this meeting and the booking of top apprentice Warren Fentimen is a major positive with that rider still able to claim 3lb off the selection’s back.

Selection: Rainwater
