SATURDAY RACING TIPS
Sandown 1.50 – 2m4f Handicap Chase
I’m going with Hunter Legend (3/1) here.
He’s been in good form having run well behind a big improver at Wincanton before winning really nicely at Leicester last time.
This is a horse going in the right direction and the stiff 2m4f at Sandown will suit. Venetia Williams can seemingly do no wrong at the moment and I’m hoping Hunter Legend can give her another big Saturday winner

Sandown 2.25 – Listed Mares’ Hurdle
Georgi Girl (4/1) is who I’ve come down on in the Listed Mares’ Hurdle.
She ran well at Cheltenham last time in a race where the form is working out nicely. They went fairly slow that day and it was hard to come from off the pace.
She likes this track and there’s lots of pace on here which will play to her strengths. Conditions look to be in her favour and I can see her going well.

Wincanton 2.40 – Veterans’ Handicap Chase
I’ll be backing Le Ligerien (9/2) in this one.
He’s been placed on both starts at Wincanton and has returned this year in good form. He’s not the most fluent of jumpers, but if he can get into a rhythm this looks like another excellent opportunity.
Joe Tizzard is having a great season so far and I can see him having a rather enjoyable day with the Veterans as you’ll see below…

Sandown 3.00 – 2024 Veterans' Chase Series Final
I really can’t see past Copperhead (3/1 fav), who really deserves to win the 2024 final of the Veterans’ Chase Series. He’s been thriving this year and despite his advancing years, he almost seems to have had a new lease of life this season.
He ran another cracker at Cheltenham last time despite having to lug plenty of weight and he should go well again in this sphere.
At an each-way price, I’ll back Fortescue (15/2).
He was behind Copperhead earlier this season and while I’m not sure he can reverse the placings, I can see him staying on really well up that Sandown hill.

Wincanton 3.15 – 2m5f Handicap Hurdle
I’m hoping we can round the day off with a winner in the shape of Nordic Tiger (4/1).
Alice Stevens gets on well with this horse and he’s likely to have stepped forward from his reappearance run at Doncaster which wasn’t a bad effort at all.
He’s a pretty straightforward horse that was progressive at the back end of last year and I’m hopeful we haven’t found his ceiling yet.
Harry Derham had a quieter December due to a setback with his gallop, but the horses that have run since then have been in flying form and Nordic Tiger could easily keep that run going.
