Reigning BetMGM Premier League Darts champion Luke Littler returns to defend his crown in the 2025 season.
Last year marked Litter’s first appearance in this prestigious tournament. The teenager handled it with aplomb – finishing top of the league before besting Luke Humphries in the final on Play-Offs Night.
The 18-year-old has gone from strength to strength since his BetMGM Premier League Darts victory last May, adding the Grand Slam of Darts, World Series Finals and PDC World Darts Championship crowns to his accolades to cement himself as one of the favourites heading into this year’s BetMGM Premier League.
Below, you can take an in-depth look at ‘the Nuke’ and delve into his career highlights ahead of the 17-night 2025 BetMGM Premier League Darts season, which kicks off on 6th February in Belfast.
Luke Littler History
Where else to start than with the performance that shook the darts world – Littler’s appearance at the 2024 World Darts Championship.
Heading to Alexandra Palace for his debut at the tournament, Littler took it all in his stride.
After winning his opening three matches Littler faced an all-time great, and one of his darting heroes, in Raymond van Barneveld. The teenager dispatched the living legend with a 105.01 average in a stellar 4-1 victory, booking himself a spot in the quarter-finals and truly announcing himself to the world.
Wins over Brendan Dolan and 2018 world champion Rob Cross continued Littler’s fairytale tournament but he came up just short against world number one Humphries in the final.
Nonetheless, a star was born at the 2024 World Championship and his meteoric rise continued unabated.
The Nuke’s performance at the World Championship earned him a spot in the 2024 BetMGM Darts Premier League, where he won four nights and topped the regular season table with 40 points ahead of Humphries and Michael van Gerwen.
A win over ‘Bully Boy’ Michael Smith in the semi-final set up a World Championship final rematch with Humphries. Littler made no mistake this time, coming out on top with an 11-7 victory in the final as well as throwing a nine-darter.
In September, Littler added the World Series Finals title to his growing majors list after toppling Chris Dobey, Michael van Gerwen and Michael Smith. That momentum continued into the next month as the Grand Slam became his third major of the year.
The 2025 World Darts Championship marks the apex of Littler’s career so far. He produced a masterclass to knock out Ryan Meikle in the second round, setting the record for the highest set average at the World Championship with 140.91 in the final set.
Wins over Ian White, Ryan Joyce, Nathan Aspinall and fan favourite Stephen Bunting followed before meeting Van Gerwen in the final.
Littler dominated the showpiece, winning 7-3 against the three-time champion and becoming the youngest-ever PDC world darts champion at 17 years and 347 days.
