Nathan Aspinall returns to the BetMGM Premier League for the third consecutive year, having finished fifth in both 2023 and 2024.

The 2023 Masters champion had a somewhat disappointing 2024 having struggled with injury, though a quarter-final showing at the PDC World Championship did showcase flashes of what he is capable of.

Despite an underwhelming year the world number 10 and crowd favourite gets another shot at the BetMGM Premier League and will be out to improve on his best showing – second place in 2020.

Below, we look deeper into ‘The Asp’, his career and his accomplishments ahead of the 17-night 2025 BetMGM Premier League Darts season kicking off on 6th February in Belfast.

Nathan Aspinall History

Nathan Aspinall's darts journey has seen him rise from a young underdog to a major champion. His entry into the PDC Development and Challenge Tours in 2012 marked the beginning of a career filled with its share of ups and downs.

One of the pivotal moments in Aspinall's career occurred in 2015 when he secured a coveted two-year PDC Tour card. This achievement, however, was followed by the challenge of retaining it in 2018.

The turning point came in September 2018 when Aspinall clinched his first Players Championship title. This win catapulted him into the darts spotlight, setting the stage for his incredible semi-final run at the 2019 PDC World Championship. Against all expectations as a 500/1 outsider, that surge to the last four left a lasting impression on darts fans around the world.

That worlds run paved the way for a significant milestone in his career: his first major title at the 2019 UK Open.

Aspinall's resilience and knack for overcoming adversity became even more evident with his remarkable recovery from a potentially career-threatening wrist injury in 2022.

Continuing his climb to the top, Aspinall secured a standout victory at the World Matchplay in July 2023, establishing his position as one of the most formidable PDC darts players. His list of accomplishments now includes numerous PDC ProTour Titles, coupled with several Players Championship wins.

His 2024 was spent largely battling a troublesome elbow injury which means the Asp has fallen to 10th in the world rankings, but a quarter-final appearance at the PDC World Championship reminded us how good he can be on his day.
