Rob Cross Profile Photo

Rob Cross returns to the BetMGM Premier League Darts lineup for the second consecutive year – and his sixth campaign in total – looking to improve on his career-best runner-up finish in 2019.

Cross finished sixth in the 2024 competition, his first appearance since finishing ninth in 2021.

His first two BetMGM Premier League Darts campaigns produced a semi-final and final appearance respectively, though he has delivered more modest performances in his three appearances since.

Cross was unable to add to his four PDC major wins in 2024, though he did win the Baltic Sea Darts Open on the European Tour, defeating world number one Luke Humphries in the final.

He made the last four of the 2024 PDC World Championship and the quarter-finals of five other majors last year – including the UK Open and the World Matchplay – but a disappointing second-round exit in the 2025 worlds was not the ideal preparation for Cross heading into the Premier League.

Below, you can dive further into ‘Voltage’ and look at his career highlights ahead of the 17-night 2025 BetMGM Premier League Darts season, which kicks off on 6th February in Belfast.

Rob Cross History

Having entered the 2016 UK Open as an amateur qualifier, Cross subsequently competed in the PDC Challenge Tour where his performances successfully earned him a two-year tour card through this process.

Cross smoothly transitioned into the professional circuit, his prowess underlined by clinching four Players Championship victories in 2017.

The undoubted high point of his stunning debut season came when he triumphed over all-time great Phil Taylor with a convincing 7-2 victory at Alexandra Palace, securing the prestigious 2018 PDC World Championship title at his first attempt.

His full debut season saw him end in third place on the PDC Order of Merit, meaning qualification for the 2018 BetMGM Premier League.

Despite facing challenges in the 2018 season, Cross made a triumphant return to the winner's circle in 2019, claiming victories in the World Matchplay and the European Championship.

His success continued in October 2021 when he secured his second European Championship crown with an 11-8 victory over Michael van Gerwen in the showpiece.

Though he has been unable to add to his tally of four majors since 2021, he has made three finals: the Players Championship Finals in 2022 and both the Masters and Grand Slam in 2023. He has also won two European Tour competitions and three Players Championship events and the Dutch Darts Masters in January 2025.

Cross’s standout quality is his undoubted consistency – he sits fourth in the world rankings and returns to the Premier League in the automatic qualification spots once more.
